Naomi (with The Judds) was the recipient of nine Country Music Award nominations and wins. "Slap the dog and spit in the fire!" Naomi exclaimed upon winning the Best New Artist CMA award in 1984. She recalled later that winning that award changed her life forever. (Her transportation to the ceremony marked the first time she had ever been in a limousine.)
